Course Description
As an experienced IBM Lotus Domino 7 administrator, you are familiar with Lotus Domino 7 administration concepts and procedures. With the release of Lotus Domino 8, there will be entirely new features as well as feature and tool updates for you to integrate into your administration expertise and practices. In this course, you will identify and explore the new features in Lotus Domino 8 administration.
Course Objective: You will identify and explore the new features in IBM Lotus Domino 8 administration.
Target Student: The target audience for this course is experienced Lotus Domino 7 administrators who require early exposure to new Lotus Domino and Lotus Notes 8 features that impact system administration.
Prerequisites: The prerequisites for this course include completion of either of the following Lotus Domino 7 paths or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience:
Administrators who were new to Lotus Domino 7 and completed the following courses: IBM Lotus Domino 7 System Administration Operating Fundamentals, Building the IBM Lotus Domino 7 Infrastructure, and Managing IBM Lotus Domino 7 Servers and Users.
Administrators who upgraded to Lotus Domino 7 from a previous release and completed the following course: Exploring New Features of IBM Lotus Domino 7 Administration.
Delivery Method: Instructor led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities.
Hardware Requirements
You will need one computer to install as the instructor's Lotus Domino server.
- At least 512 MB of RAM, 1 GB is recommended.
- A Pentium Class processor or higher. A Pentium 4, 2.6 GHz processor is recommended.
- An SVGA (or better) video card and monitor. Support for 256 colors, 800 x 600 resolution.
- At least 1.6 GB free hard disk space.
- A mouse or other pointing device.
- A CD-ROM drive or access to network file server for installation.
- A local network connection.
- A projection system for the instructor's computer screen.
- Internet access (recommended).
It is strongly recommended that you have a separate computer to install as the instructor's Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Administrator client. If you do not have a separate client computer, you can install the client software on the instructor's Domino server, but this is not the optimal configuration. The following requirements assume that you will have a separate client computer for the instructor.
- At least 128 MB of RAM, 1 GB is recommended.
- A Pentium Class processor.
- An SVGA (or better) video card and monitor. Support for 256 colors, 800 x 600 resolution.
- At least 250 MB of free hard disk space.
- A mouse or other pointing device.
- A CD-ROM drive or access to network file server for installation.
- A local network connection.
- Synchronize system time with all classroom machines.
- Internet access (recommended).
You will need one computer to install as the classroom WebSphere Portal Express Server.
- 2GB of RAM minimum. 4GB is recommended for installations in a production environment.
- Pentium 800MHz or equivalent at a minimum. Pentium 4 processor at 1.4GHz or higher is recommended in a production environment.
- An SVGA (or better) video card and monitor. Support for 256 colors, 800 x 600 resolution.
- At least 5.5 GB of free hard disk space (The installation directories for WebSphere Portal, Cloudscape, and WebSphere Application Server, extensions and fixes require 3.9 GB, and the temporary directories require 1.5 GB. Eclipse 2.3 and Lotus Component Designer require 366 MB.). 40 GB of free disk space is recommended.
- For disk swap space, at least twice the amount of installed RAM. At a minimum, this should be at least equal to your physical memory.
- A mouse or other pointing device.
- A CD-ROM drive or access to a network file server for installation.
- A local network connection.
Each student will have one computer on which to install and set up both the Lotus Domino server software and the client software.
