Course Description
This course covers managing the servers and users in an existing IBM Lotus Domino 8 and IBM Lotus Notes 8 infrastructure. In this course, you will perform standard server maintenance and troubleshooting tasks as well as register and maintain Lotus Notes and non-Lotus Notes users.
Course Objective: You will manage servers and users in an IBM Lotus Domino 8 environment.
Target Student: The target audience for this course is system administrators new to Lotus Domino, with an understanding of Lotus Domino and Lotus Notes foundational concepts and the ability to navigate in Lotus Domino Administrator, who will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining an existing Lotus Domino 8 infrastructure, and managing Lotus Notes and non-Lotus Notes users in a Domino domain.
Prerequisites: The prerequisites for this course include completion of the following IBM Lotus Domino 8 courses or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
IBM Lotus Domino 8 System Administration Operating Fundamentals is required.
Building the IBM Lotus Domino 8 Infrastructure is recommended.
Delivery Method: Instructor led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities.
Hardware Requirements
You will need one computer to install as the instructor's Lotus Domino server.
- 512 MB of RAM or more is recommended.
- A Pentium Class processor or higher. A Pentium 4, 2.6 GHz processor is recommended.
- An SVGA (or better) video card and monitor. Support for 256 colors, 800 x 600 resolution.
- At least 1.5 GB free hard disk space.
- A mouse or other pointing device.
- A CD-ROM drive or access to network file server for installation.
- A local network connection.
- Internet access (recommended).
It is strongly recommended that you have a separate computer to install as the instructor's Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Administrator client. If you do not have a separate client computer, you can install the client software on the instructor's Domino server, but this is not the optimal configuration. The following requirements assume that you will have a separate client computer for the instructor.
- 512 MB of RAM or more is recommended.
- A Pentium Class processor.
- An SVGA (or better) video card and monitor. Support for 256 colors, 800 x 600 resolution.
- At least 900 MB of free hard disk space.
- A mouse or other pointing device.
- A CD-ROM drive or access to network file server for installation.
- A local network connection.
- Synchronize system time with all classroom machines.
- Internet access (recommended).
- A projection system for the instructor's computer screen.
Each student will have one computer on which to install and set up both the Lotus Domino server software and the client software.
